5 Reasons to Dislike Living in Las Vegas

5 Reasons Why I Hate Living in Las Vegas! As a life-long resident of Las Vegas, I can definitely go over many reasons why I love living here. However, today I am going to go over the 5 reasons why I hate living in Las Vegas.

Hot Summers:

The summer months can be brutal, I am not going to lie, with average highs in June, July and August above 100 degrees. Locals are quick to point out that Las Vegas features a dry heat. I have been here for over at least 30 years and still can’t get use to the summers. However, if you have a home with a pool, it definitely makes the summers more bearable.

Gambling:

Las Vegas is known for its vices. The city offers 24/7 access to gambling, drinking and other activities that can consume a person’s lifestyle. More than a few people have found their lives spiraling out-of-control in Sin City.

Education:

The school system here, which is part of Clark County School District has some good schools, but has more bad schools than good. Nevada ranks dead last in the nation in graduation rates and is ranked worst in the nation in a highly regarded report card for state education systems. Clark County Schools has long struggled to obtain enough quality teachers. Plus, our schools are way over crowded with too many students and not enough teachers.

It’s a Transient City:

Las Vegas is a very transient city, it is the most transient state in the country. Only 24% of current Nevada residents were actually born in Nevada. A lot of the new Nevada residents move from places like California, Arizona, Washington, and pretty much all over the country.

Because Las Vegas is a transient city, people are less invested in getting to know you and vice versa. If I didn’t know people here already, it would definitely feel lonely.

Traffic:

There are over 2.6 million people that live in Las Vegas! With that amount of people, it’s a wonder why traffic has gotten so bad around here; especially during rush hour. Granted it’s not like LA traffic, but if this city continues to grow, it will soon be there.

Deciding on whether or not to live in Las Vegas depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to live in an exciting city that is hopping 24/7/365, it’s tough to find a better place to live than Las Vegas.

If cost of living is a major concern, Las Vegas is a good place to live. If you want to raise a family and keep your kids away from negative influences, this isn’t the kind of city you’re going to want to reside in. Many people enjoy living in Las Vegas. Many people don’t. The only one that can decide if this is a good place to live or not is you.
