Desert Shores Neighborhood Driving Tour

Desert Shores

Desert Shores Neighborhood Driving Tour

Join Angela and Damian as they take you on a driving tour of Desert Shores, one of the most unique master-planned communities in Las Vegas. Known for its four man-made lakes, waterfront homes, walking paths, lagoon-style pool, and resort-style atmosphere, Desert Shores offers a lifestyle unlike anywhere else in the valley. Along the way, we’ll explore the neighborhood, lakes, amenities, and Lakeside Village while sharing what makes this community so special.

LOCATION

  • Today we are driving through Desert Shores, one of the most unique master-planned communities in all of Las Vegas.

  • Desert Shores is located in the northwest part of the Las Vegas Valley near Lake Mead Boulevard and Buffalo Drive, right on the edge of Summerlin.

DEVELOPED

  • This community was developed by RA Homes and construction originally began back in 1988 and was designed to bring a waterfront lifestyle to the desert, which was a very bold idea for Las Vegas at the time.

  • What truly makes Desert Shores stand out are the 4 man-made lakes woven throughout the community. You have Lake Jacqueline (which is the largest of all the lakes), Lake Sarah, Lake Lindsey and Lake Maddison. These four interconnected lakes are the centerpiece of the Desert Shores community and help create the waterfront lifestyle the neighborhood is known for.

  • They have completely transformed the feel of the neighborhood and created one of the few true waterfront communities in Las Vegas.

  • The community spans approximately 682 acres and includes roughly 3,351 homes throughout the neighborhood and is made up of over 22 different residential districts and includes a mix of condos, townhomes, single-family homes, gated communities, and custom waterfront estates with some homes even having their own private docks with direct lake access.

  • Desert Shores was actually one of the earliest master-planned communities in Las Vegas and helped inspire future lifestyle-focused communities throughout the valley.

  • Even today, decades later, Desert Shores still feels incredibly unique because there really is nothing else quite like it in Las Vegas.

LAKE AMENITIES

  • One of the really cool things about Desert Shores is the lifestyle centered around the lakes themselves.

  • Residents can enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, and relaxing right along the water.

  • You’ll often see people out walking the lake paths, exercising, or simply enjoying the scenery throughout the community.

  • There are walking paths and trails woven throughout Desert Shores that connect many of the neighborhoods and lakes together.

CLUBHOUSE/POOL

  • Residents are welcome to use the amenities of the Lagoon Park when the Lagoon Pool is closed, including the basketball & Volleyball Courts, Sand Beach, Horseshoe Pit, Picnic Pavilions w/BBQ grills, Playground and paddle boats. Lifeguard is on duty when park is open.

  • Desert Shores 200,000 gallon, fully filtered swimming pool is built to look like a tropical lagoon, surrounded by sand and palm trees. During the Summer season, the lagoon is open six days a week – closed only on Mondays for maintenance. Lifeguards are on duty during operating hours.

  • The community docks provide paddle boating and fishing for the residents. The 2,100 square foot clubhouse, with terraces on the side of the main lake, is the site of many private parties and special community events.

  • The spacious facility can accommodate up to 100 guests seated banquet style. The prep kitchen provides a commercial size refrigerator, freezer, and two microwave/convection ovens. Reservations are accepted no more than three months prior to the event and must have a current DSCA ID Card in order to make a reservation.

LAKESIDE VILLAGE

  • Now we are heading into Lakeside Village, which is the main shopping and dining center inside Desert Shore. This area sits directly on Lake Jacqueline and is really the social hub of the community.

  • Lakeside Village features waterfront restaurants, cafés, beauty services, office suites, and event spaces all centered around the lake.

  • One of the most popular restaurants here is Americana and Marche Bacchus, both lakeside dining restaurants with outdoor patio seating right on the water.

  • There are also cafés, bakeries, wine spots, and casual dining options throughout the center including The Daily Bread and other local restaurants.

  • Lakeside Village is also known for its wedding and event venues with multiple lakeside ceremony locations and reception spaces overlooking the water.

  • At night especially, this area becomes really peaceful with the restaurant lights reflecting off the lake water.
